Intro
For my senior thesis, I chose to create space for exploring physicality and the relationship between time and space in the ways design can capture it. To design for design's sake and for the love of the artform. The flipbook lasts for 4.5 seconds and contains 54 frames, composed of postcards with photographs I've taken from the places I've traveled to. The sequences of three individual animations share the common motif of coordinates and a mail sorting code which progresses throughout the flipbook. The choice in using coordinates positions numerical typography as the common language of time and space, while emulating a sort of rapid counter. The motifs of the square code, arrow, wave stamp, and postal security pattern are derived from mail I've received. Indulging my love for print and snail mail, the flipbook is a vessel for a shared "deep craving for the real and tangible." 4" x 6.75" x 0.5625"
